The Shopping List

Yes, it’s Saturday again. We’re having a really unproductive lazy relaxing day here today.  As seems to be becoming customary, I’m joining in with Small Talk Six again this week.  If you want to participate, please don’t forget to pop on over to MomDot to leave your link – and a nice bit of comment love (there and here), too!

Today’s topic is:  Six Items That are on Your Grocery/Shopping List Every Single Week. Hmm.  That’s a toughie.  You see, while I am currently squatting staying at my parents’ place, my Dad gets most of the weekly shop.  There are, however, certain things I am responsible for.  These include, but are not limited to: Chipmunk’s packed lunch, Tuesday/Thursday evening meal ingredients, treats.  Not necessarily in that order.  So please, don’t think badly of me when you see the list – I do eat healthy stuff too!

*Ahem*

Now, with that out of the way, here are my six:

  1. Munch Bunch mega-double-up fromage frais – Chipmunk’s new favourite staple food.  He has them in his packed lunch, as well as for snacks and puddings.  They are healthy, although I do try not to give him too much dairy, as he has the typical stomach problems that go along with Autism.  He does have a daily pro-biotic though, which seems to help most of the time.
  2. Cadbury’s mini rolls.  Preferably strawberry flavour.  Another of his favourite snacks, and his only bit of chocolate except for rare occasions.  I do have to keep replacing them though, as his Nanny is also rather partial to them!  I really hope that Cadbury don’t stop making them after the takeover.
  3. Quarter-pounders – made only with the best lean Irish beef!  Miss Fifi comes one day every week, and she has regressed from eating anything put in front of her, to demanding burger and chips every week.  She even refused to eat her pizza last week!  Chipmunk, on the other hand, will eat pretty much anything, as long as it isn’t chicken, fish or pork.
  4. Ice-cream – again, mainly for Miss Fifi’s benefit!  Chipmunk will have it when she’s here, but every other day he would rather have his pro-biotic yoghurt for dessert!
  5. Organic banana cake – Chipmunk’s new favourite lunch item.  He goes mad for this, and I have to say it is really quite yummy!
  6. Lasagne ingredients – whichever ones we have run out of!  It seems to have become our regular Thursday evening meal, as this is the evening Mum is away.  It’s tasty, healthy – and easy to prepare!  Winner!

So, that’s my six.  Tell me, what is your shopping list not complete without?

  1. I try to go shopping every other week. It seems that, at least of late, my list inevitably includes soy milk, cereal for work, bread, soup, “steamer” microwavable lunches, and a variety of fruit and veg. I’m desperately trying to cook more at home to save money, though the motivation is still falling far behind the actual execution!

I know what you mean about the motivation thing! I keep thinking about trying soy milk, but I’m not sure about it!

  2. Hmmm, I go shopping once a week and always come home with: milk, potatoes, soup, fruits (mainly Asian Pears!), cheese, Honey! :) I try really hard not to by unnecessary things. If they’re there…I will eat them…no mercy!!

I shop as and when I get opportunity and my list will make you laugh – that is regular list.
Bread whatever I fancy at the time I prefer granary but my friend will not eat it, as she is often here for meals, milk I don’t touch the stuff and have it in case I have visitors who would like a drink and at the end of the week the whole pint goes down the sink. Twix bars – these are for my carers when they call in the morning – very rare for me to eat them, cherry tomatoes carrots and meat of some sort.

I wish I could say that I had something outrageous or exciting but my life is not like that.

What a fun post! I always have milk, creamer, peanut butter with honey, bread, coffee and bananas. Just stopping by from SITS to say hello. Have a great week!

cabdury’s mini rolls – yum yum.

  8. Enguardia says:

Mmmm sounds yummy! Mine is oatmeal fruit (frozen berries and bananas), apples, bread (room mate has a thing for sandwiches), milk for said oatmeal and evening Mini Wheats (yes diabetes has filled me with heart attack fears and I have a lot of fibre), sandwich ingredients (my favorite is oatmeal bagels toasted with cream cheese, onions and pastrami), and eggs (protein snack that is natural, healthy, and comes in it’s own wrapper when boiled! I don’t eat the yolks tho!)
